10 Years Saying Something!

It’s 15th June 2026, which is exactly 10 years to the day since we posted our first ever duo cover song!

As members of the “Theme Music” Facebook group in 2016, we were regular participants in the weekly or fortnightly challenge to find (or write) and record a song that matched that week’s theme. And the theme that particular week was “Some Theme / Any Theme”, wherein we had to make a song with “some” or “any” in the title. While we were both members, we’d never done a song together in the few years we’d both been active, and a fortuitous enquiry about backing vocals for a different song led to us discussing making a duet of some kind. Andrea suggested this song, and sent Owen a couple of different versions: the original by A Great Big World / Christina Aguilera and a couple of cover versions by other artists. “A bit of all of these?”

And this was the result!

So to mark the occasion, here’s that first song of ours once again, from when we were ever so much younger!

Take a looook up the rail track…

Once again, identical twins The Disclaimers return to our site with their cover of The Proclaimers’ first major hit single, ā€œLetter From Americaā€.  The song makes parallels between the period of the Highland Clearances when many Scots were ā€˜emigrated’, and the later impact of the loss of Scottish engineering, and pondered whether the blood of those who had departed might return to ā€˜kick the life back’ to their homeland.  Perhaps in 2026 there could be an additional twist to such ponderings.  I wonder how it got on when it reached the promised land…
