We’re off to Never-Never Land!

In October last year, we invited you wonderful folks to send us some song suggestions, and you obliged with some forty titles for us to choose from. Owen’s old university pal Dave sent a fistful of amusing suggestions, ranging from Wham to AC/DC to Abba to Rick Astley, though I daresay he didn’t think we’d actually tackle Metallica.

So get your leathers on and dive into the darkness of childhood nightmares with ENTER SANDMAN… And a slightly belated happy birthday to you, Dave. πŸ™‚

Oh, and also, this video required 11724 miles of air travel to make. πŸ˜‰

Dear Sir or Madam, can you read my book?

For our final Roadside Session (which was actually the first we recorded), we make a hurried journey to the Edinburgh Fringe (and also Aberdeen) to bring you a tale of desperate ambition from the writing world. You can sing along if you know the refrain. πŸ˜‰

You always take the weather…

For number three in our series of windy singing locations, we took the lyrics literally, and went everywhere we could, taking as much weather as possible. Join us in this Crowded House classic, as we tour around Aberdeenshire with our Tascam TR-05 gizmotron. A list of locations is at the end of the video. πŸ™‚

I Wish I Was Homeward Bound…

For our second “Roadside Session”, where we go and stand somewhere windy and attempt to record live vocals, we ventured out to Keith in Moray. We borrowed the station to make our version of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Homeward Bound”. Alas there were no trains. πŸ™‚

Almost heaven, Aberdeenshire…

As one of the longest bands in the world, at 3000 miles or so, it’s not that common for us to both be in the same place at the same time. So when that actually happens, it’s time to pull out the recorder and find some scenic spots to do some live singing in. πŸ™‚

Here’s the first of our 2019 “Roadside Sessions” – vocals recorded today, live in The Lord’s Throat on the River Don in Aberdeenshire – John Denver’s all time classic, “Country Roads”.

It’s ending with a Great Gasp

We are working on some ambitious videos for your near-future enjoyment, but in the meantime…. Andrea wanted to sneak in a simple cover of one of her favorite songs by one of her favorite artists. This is called “Great Gasp,” and it’s from Michael Flynn’s 2018 album “Pretend Like.” It feels especially relevant at this particular moment.

Do you remember The Summerhouse?

Back in the groove, here’s another from our suggestion list of October last, this time from Sean Lee Bourne, who suggested “The Summerhouse” by The Divine Comedy. Β This is a 1994 song by Neil Hannon, harking back on the imagined childhoods we might have had, and yet somehow reflecting the ones weΒ did have. πŸ™‚

Can you feel it? In the air tonight…

Time to air-drum along to the song that defined the drum sound of the 1980s! Β Here’s our interpretation of Phil Collins’s 1980s hit song “In The Air Tonight”, with a video totally filmed on location in an abandoned city during a thunderstorm.

All come to look for America…

Happy 2019, fellow Wanderers! Our first post of the year is this classic from Simon & Garfunkel, suggested last year by Lucy Jain. We’ve been snowed under (literally in Andrea’s case) for the last couple of months, so it’s good to get back into musical meanderings!

We recorded and filmed this 3000 miles apart – see if you can spot the joins… πŸ˜‰

It was Christmas Eve, babe… A fairytale of New York.

Christmas is almost upon us, the days are already getting longer, winter is here, and we’ve been making seasonal music! ‘Tis, after all, the season to be … yelling and calling each other names, at least in this festive feast originally made famous by The Pogues and the late, great Kirsty MacColl. Our final offering for 2018, and another suggestion sent in by our friend Dereck Blackburn over on our Facebook page.

Have a great 2018 solstice period, whatever you’re celebrating. πŸ™‚
